FTL #8. Another baby girl!

IMG_0160We have another baby girl about to be welcomed in our church.  I kept tweeking this to make me happy.  I like how it turned out until I realized that I mixed white and cream… Oh well.  Here is the Fall To recipe.

Supplies:

Paper:  Pink Pirouette, Purely Pomegranate, White, misc designer paper

Ink:  Purely Pom

Stamps: So Many Scallops

Extras:  Purely Pom ribbon, dies, swiss dots embossing folder

FTL #7.

IMG_2147I’m not sure how closely this layout is to the original design.  I’m pleased with how the cards turned out, but I may want to take a stab at actually getting close to this layout.

Supplies:

Paper:  White, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery

Ink: Almost Artichoke, Bashful Blue

Stamps: Larger Than Life, Inside Out Birthday (PTI)

Extras: Ribbon

FTL #6

IMG_2148I don’t get to make many baby cards anymore!  This card is for a sweet little girl from our church.  Here is actually very little stamping done.    The designer series paper is  from SU!  I love the ribbon from Paper trey.  You can find the sketch here.

Supplies:

Paper: Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink Designer paper

Ink: Pretty in Pink

Stamps: Round and Round (PTI)

Extras: Sheer polka dot ribbon (PTI)

FTL #5

IMG_2146There is a reason why I need to upload and comment on cards as soon as I do them!  I don’t remember who I made this for…  I really like the chalkboard greetings set by My Favorite things.  It was an impulse order, but I’m glad I got this.  I’d been waiting for the balloon dies to come back in stock for quite a while.  I like how easily it is to make balloons (especially with the companion set).  Here is the original post…

Supplies:

Paper:  PTI White, Basic Black, Bashful Blue, Real Red, So Saffron, Ballet Blue

Ink: Pure Poppy (PTI), VersaMark

Stamps: Birthday Chalkboard Greetings, DC Party Balloons (both from MFT)

Extras:  Die-namics Party Balloons

FTL #4…

IMG_0158This is a project rather than a card, but I’m pleased with the outcome.  Jordan has has a pretty difficult school year.  I thought she’d like a visual reminder of how many school days were left.  After I gave this to her, she told me there was a countdown in the Commons!  She’s still using it.  Here is the original sketch from Clean and Simple stamping.

Supplies:

Paper:  Wild Wasabi, Basic Black, misc designer paper, cork

Ink: White Chalk marker

Stamps: none

Extras: lined paper, 4×6 acrylic picture frame

FTL #3!

My Fall To Layout #3 wasn’t a birthday card!  We know an amazing family that is in the process of adopting a child.  I can’t wait to see the little one that God places into their family!

Supplies:

Paper:  Rich Razzleberry, Cream, Pale Plum, Pink, Designer Paper

Ink: Fresh Snow (PaperTrey Ink)

Stamps: Clearly Sentimental about Aubrey Hepburn (MFT)

Extras:  Heart punches, Detail white EP, White polka dot ribbon (PTI)

FTL #2!

IMG_2143

My take on the second fall to layout is another birthday card for another nephew!  Here is the link to the original sketch.  Alyssa thought this looked a little babyish.  I find it hard to make cards for either boys or men!

For supplies, I used:

Card stock:  Ballet Blue (base), Night of Navy, So Saffron, Only Orange, and Gable Green (all Stampin’ Up)

Ink:  Night of Navy

Stamps:  Birthday Chalkboard Greetings (My Favorite Things)

Extras:  Balloon punch from Martha Stewart

Clean and Simple FTL 1

The Clean and Simple card blog has started to revisit their layouts. I thought this was an ideal time to start stamping again! Really, one card a week shouldn’t be too much. Here is my take on the Fall To Layout 1. I made this one for my nephew.

Supplies:

Card Stock:  Real Red (Base), Only Orange, Gable Green, Ballet Blue, So Saffron

Ink:  Palette Noir Black

Stamps:  Birthday Chalkboard Greetings (My Favorite Things)

Extras:  Balloon dies (MFT), Bakers twine, brad

Shattered by Dani Pettrey

Screen Shot 2013-04-18 at 2.27.22 PM

Shattered is the second book in the Alaskan Courage series, but can easily be read as a stand alone book.

One night, Piper McKenna is awaken to find her brother, Reef, in their home. He is shaken, upset and covered in blood. Reef is accused of murdering Karli, a fellow downhill ski competitor. There is overwhelming evidence, including eye witnesses, against Reef. Piper is convinced that her brother is innocent and will stop at nothing to prove it.

A long time friend of the McKenna family, Landon, is the detective working the case against Reef. He and Piper have a strong friendship that is moving toward something more. Since they have been friends since childhood, the conflict and conversation between them is humorous and believable.

I truly enjoyed reading this book! The characters are brought to life in a very realistic way. The intriguing storyline made this book very hard to put down.

Song of the Brokenhearted

_140_245_Book.677.cover Song of the Brokenhearted opens with Ava Kent doing what she does best: helping others in their time of greatest need. She is in the perfect position to lead the benevolence ministry in her church. She has a happy marriage, two wonderful children, and financial security. As she looks out her window, she notices that her willow tree is dying.

All at once her picture perfect live falls apart. Finances are not as secure as she thought, both children are having personal problems, and the facade she has built her life on is falling away. Just like her willow tree, radical changes must be made for survival. Ava must go back to her roots and learn to trust God in a new way. Instead of hiding her broken heart behind a safe life and good works, she learns to trust God to heal her.
